- No person was born with years of experience.
- No person was born a professor, no person was born with years or wisdom or knowledge and
- Absolutely no one was born an expert in their respective field: every accomplished person had to learn.
- We must all learn.
So the next time you decline to hire a young or inexperienced person because he or she lacks experience, please remember that you too learned your ABCs, learned to write, became educated through life or formal academia and then someone took the chance to employ you when you were inexperienced.
For how will experience be achieved if no one is willing to teach nor willing to allow a learning experience?
Please…
Fervently hire the inexperienced among us while we still have the blessing of the lives of those who are experienced. For the rapidly escalating COVID-19 pandemic has taught us much about the possible brevity of life. If the knowledge of the experienced is not imparted to the inexperienced, then that precious knowledge and wisdom will die with he or she who is experienced.
So imagine a world in January 2021 where we have lost 30% of those world-renowned, those with unmatched experience: experts at the pinnacle of their careers and the prime of there lives at age 60-79 or even younger or older…
Imagine that these precious human resources did not have a condition that resulted in them chronicling the vast extent of their expertise and know-how in a written format with diagrams designed to impart the wealth of their knowledge to their successors? After all, many experts do not write books, and those who do write books do not necessarily write every single thing needed to learn their art in their absence nor are their works written in the form necessary to teach a 5 year old.
So imagine losing those precious souls and not having a back-up of their life’s work saved to your hard drive…
The scenario brings sadness and perspective.
